Former Notable Players: Yhancy Brazoban, Jose Contreras, and Mike Lowell. Notes: Known as the Spring Training home of the New York Yankees, this ballpark is also home to their Florida State League team, once the Bronx Bombers head north. With the New York Yankees Player Development Center located at the facility, players from the parent club will have rehabilitation assignments here during the FSL regular season. Designed by the DLR Group, it incorporates several of the signature features of Yankee Stadium; the field dimensions are the same and the roof of the grandstands is ringed a frieze similar to the cooper frieze of the original House that Ruth built. Located across the street is Raymond James Stadium, home of the NFL Tampa Bay Buccaneers. In 2008 the stadium was renamed in honor of long-time New York Yankees owner, George Steinbrenner. |
