Former Notable Players: Notes: Located in tandem with a football stadium at the 45 million dollar Scharbauer Sports Complex on the west edge of this West Texas town, it was built to replace the 50-year-old Christensen Stadium as the home of Midland's Texas League franchise. Uniquely, the footprint of the stadium faces southeast to shield the fans from the sun. However the prevailing winds blow in from the south, which limits the number of home runs. The serpentine outfield wall, that juts and curves at odd angles, is another contrast to many other contemporary symmetrical ballparks. The stadium opened with the naming rights sold to First American Bank, a regional financial services company. Citigroup later purchased FAB and reimaged the park with Citibank, a retail banking unit brand. In 2014 Security Bank, a regional financial institution acquired tne naming rights in a long term deal. |
