Former Notable Players: Julio Lugo, Roy Oswalt, and Johan Santana. Notes: Built on the site of the original Falcon Park (circa 1927), the park is one of the few remaining neighborhood ballparks that were the backbone of the NY-Penn League a decade ago. It was built during the mid-1990s when New York state helped fund ball parks in upstate cities of Syracuse, Auburn, Rochester and Batavia. The name dates back to the original park which was initially owned by the Polish Falcons, a local fraternal organization. The playing field was dedicated to Leo Pinckney, a local sports writer, who brought minor league baseball back to Auburn in the 1950s and went on to serve as president of the NY-Penn League. |
