Edson J. Hadlock, Jr. FieldPortland, Maine
Team: Portland Sea Dogs Affiliate: Boston Red Sox Year Opened: 1994 Seating Capacity: 6,975
Notable Former Players: Livan Hernandez, Mark Kotsay, Matthew Mantei, Kevin Millar, Edgar Renteria, and Kevin Youkilis. Notes: While serving capacity crowds for many games, this stadium was built on a high school ball field, when this New England city was awarded an Eastern League. In seven months and 2.5 million dollars a couple of bleachers were transformed into a facility ready for Double A ball. The original ball field, which opened as Portland Stadium, and the current ball park were named in honor of Edson J. Hadlock, Jr. a local high school baseball coach. Hadlock Field adopted several features of its Major League brethren, Fenway Park, when the Sea Dogs became an affiliate of the Boston Red Sox. A copy of the Green Monster with the lighted Citgo sign were constructed in left field.
