Notable Former Players: Rob Dibble, Ray Durham, Don Mattingly, Willie McGee, Magglio Ordonez, and Craig Wilson. Notes: Located at the base of a hilltop Civil War fort, the stadium was built to lure professional baseball back to the Music City fifteen years after the fabled Nashville Volunteers faded from the local scene. It one of few contemporary ball parks that has played host to two professional teams at the same time, as Triple A Sounds and the Double A Xpress shared the field for two seasons. The stadium was named for local banker, Herschel Greer. who had also served as president of the Vols. At one time the team management briefly tried to sell the stadium's naming rights via an online auction.
