Notes: The home field for Yale University baseball since 1884, the current concrete and steel structure replaced the original wooden stands in 1928. The field has seen legends of professional and collegiate baseball play here over the years. Hall of Famers Babe Ruth, Lou Gehrig, Ted Williams, Jimmie Foxx, Casey Stengel and Paul Waner have all barnstormed through Yale Field over the years. It was site of the fabled 1981 collegiate pitching duel between future major leaguers Yale’s Ron Darling and St. John's Frank Viola. It was also the home field for two future U.S. Presidents, George H.W. Bush and George W. Bush. With the advancing years and the arrival of the new Eastern League franchise the stadium was gutted, in the early 1990s, leaving only the exterior walls as it was modernized for a professional baseball tenant. The New Haven Ravens and a series of independent teams called it home for over a decade before it returned to being solely the home of the Yale Bulldogs baseball team.
