Former Notable Players: Eric Byrnes, Mark Ellis, Eric Hinske, Carlos Pena, Nick Swisher and Barry Zito. Notes: This $29.5 million stadium rose from the abandoned factories, warehouses and railyards on the west bank of the Sacramento River, across from the State Capitol complex. The naming rights went to Raley's, a regional chain of supermarkets, who's senior management was a driving force to bring professional baseball back to Sacramento after a 25-year absence. The construction was squeezed into an eight and half month window, even with bad weather that delayed Opening Day by 45 days. |
