Justice, Mickey Lolich, Rusty Staub and Joe Morgan. Notes: Built on the site of El Toro Park, which burned to the ground, this concrete and steel stadium was built for $100,000 in 1939-40. It served as the location for the 1988 movie Bull Durham, starring Kevin Costner, Susan Sarandon and Tim Robbins. It was the host of teams in both the Piedmont League and Carolina League until it gave way to the $ 16.1 million downtown Durham Bulls Athletic Park in 1995. It remains in use today by amateur and high school leagues. The Ellerbe creek flows under the ball park.
