Baseball has been played along the eastern banks of
the Chattahoochee River since 1909. The original Golden Park was
built in 1926, as the current facility was constructed after the
1994 season - when it was chosen as the softball host site for the
1996 Olympic Games. The ballpark was dedicated in 1926 as Golden
Park, after T.E. "Theo" Golden, who spearheaded the drive for the
town's first South Atlantic League team.
