Former Notable Players: Sean Casey, Bartolo Colon, Brian Giles, Danny Graves, Steve Karsay, and Richie Sexson. Notes: Designed by Hellmuth, Obata and Kassabaum, this downtown stadium, was built with an eye toward Major League Baseball expansion that once Buffalo had hoped to secure a franchise. This stadium replaced the nearby decaying War Memorial Stadium. The 46 million dollar Pilot Field, sponsored by Pilot Air Freight, was renamed North AmeriCare Park, less than three months into its inaugural season when the naming rights were sold to the regional HMO. Dunn Tire, a regional tire retailer, acquired the naming rights in 1999. For 2009 season Coca-Cola Bottling Co. of Buffalo signed up for the naming rights in a ten-year deal. |
