Former Notable Players: John Maine, Nick Markakis. Notes: Located his hometown, this is the center piece of the Aberdeen Baseball Complex, built by baseball icon Cal Ripken, Jr. The complex now includes the $ 18 million facility, Cal Sr.'s Yard (modeled after Camden Yards) for youth baseball and a hotel. Ripken Stadium was designed by the same firm that drew up the plans for Daniel S. Frawley Stadium, Wilmington, Del. and Arthur W. Perdue Stadium, Salisbury, Maryland. The stadium now hosts everything from weddings to rock concerts in addition to the NY-P League Ironbirds. |
