Former Notable Players: Scott Kazmir Notes: The stadium is located on Coney Island, on the site of the fabled Steepchase (amusement) Park, along the Riegelmann Boardwalk. The park incorporates many of the images from the history of Coney Island. MCU Park also has retail space on Surf Avenue, along with a two-story souvenir store. The facility opened in 2001 as KeySpan Park, with the naming rights sold to KeySpan Corporation, an electric power and natural gas utility company. In 2010 the stadium was redubbed MCU Park, as the New York City-based Municipal Credit Union signed on as the naming sponsor. It was built in tandem with Richmond County Bank Ballpark at St. George to bring minor league baseball to New York City. |
